INFORMATION:

  • Ever wanted to try a new visual art course but weren’t sure what one suited you?
  • Ever visit an art supply store and left simply because you couldn’t decide what to try!
  • Or found the array of products on display bewildering?
  • Ever wanted to just play with paint? Dip into drawing? Sample sculpture? Meddle with mixed media? Take part in printmaking? Or ponder over Photoshop?
  • Ever went to look for a course that covered lots of art forms, but found it simply didn’t exist?
  • Well now it does! Adrienne Geoghegan’s Creative Boot Camps have brought together 6 inspiring artists, all experts in their field, who are dying to share their knowledge, and take the mystery out of all these art forms so you can discover which ones you may like to take further.
  • Level of experience – familiarity of at least one form of visual arts is an advantage. However enthusiasm counts for everything!
  • Starting on the 3rd September, take yourself on a visual feast very Saturday morning for 12 weeks, 10.30 to 1pm.  Fees E380, some  materials supplied.
  • Open Evening is on Monday evening, 18th August at 6pm in the Garden Art Room. Come and meet the tutors, chat about what the course can offer you, and maybe even secure your place!

TUTORS’ PROFILES

Tadhg McGrath has an honours degree in painting from Central St Martin’s in London, and an MA in Fine Art from the National College Art and Design in Dublin. He is a practicing artist, and has had one-person shows in Dublin, London, and Belfast. He currently teaches Painting part-time in NCAD. Some of his work can be seen at www.thinkinginenglish.net

Debora Ando has an honours degree in Fine Print from Universidade de Sao Paulo (Brazil), and a MA in Visual Arts Practice from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology of Dun Laoghaire. She is an etching tutor, head of education subcommittee and board member in Black Church Print Studio. Debora is also part of the artist’s panel in the National Gallery of Ireland, The Ark and the National Print Museum. She has participated in exhibitions in Dublin, Sao Paulo, and Paris. Angela McDonagh attended Ballyfermot Senior College 1997-2000 where she completed her Higher National Diploma in Film and Television Production. Returning to NCAD in 2007 she has recently completed her Diploma in Art and Design in which she received first class honours. McDonagh’s practice is based in the conceptual, and development through process. She will be exhibiting at Pallas Projects as part of the summer exhibitions.

Fiona Smyth Sculpture Workshop – Fiona Smyth is a professional sculptor. She graduated in 1998 from Dun Laoghaire College of Art & Design in Fine Art and in 2001 from NCAD with an H.Dip in Art & Design Education. Her work covers a wide range of media from traditional bronze casting and small scale sculpture to mixed media drawing and print.  She has exhibited her work in group and solo shows in Dublin over the past 10 years.

Mark Neiland is a Photographer with over 25 years of experience in all areas including studio lighting, colour printing, black & white darkroom, large format digital printing, and photo editing software. He has taught Photoshop and photography in Killester College and personal one to one training sessions. Mark has exhibited his work in Dublin, Cork and abroad over the past 15 years, and runs a successful fine art and photography printing business from the city centre.

Adrienne Geoghegan Adrienne set up CREATIVE BOOT CAMPS IN 2008. She studied design and illustration in Kingston University in the UK, where she was awarded a first class BA (hons) degree. She continued her career in London, illustrating for newspapers and magazines, including The Guardian and the Economist.  Adrienne lectured part time for seven years in DIT – Visual Communications Degree Course 1997 to 2003. Adrienne’s work has been translated into many languages and she has worked for Macmillan Children’s Books, Oxford University Press, Hazar UK, Scholastic Books, Francis Lincoln Books UK, Readers Digest, and Bloomsbury Children’s Books amongst others. She has also worked for many years illustrating  freelance for the Irish Times, Business and Finance, Sunday Business Post, Irish Independent amongst others.
Adrienne is currently working towards an exhibition, in her home studio, of her assemblage’s, collages, and paintings.  Adrienne is an active member of the Illustrators Guild of Ireland and Children’s Books Ireland and member of IVARO.
