Painting, collage and assemblage is Adrienne Geoghegan’s passion. She studied illustration at Kingston University in the UK, where developed her ‘beloved shadow boxes’. Adrienne was awarded a 1st class BA(hons) however, surprisingly, her first paid work came through a children’s book agent – and subsequently, Adrienne was shortlisted for the McMillan prize in Children’s Picture Books. Her work has been translated into many languages, and Adrienne continues to create ideas for picture books. She also illustrated articles for many London publishers, including The Guardian and the Economist. In 1994 Adrienne returned to Dublin, to a shared studio space The Fifty-Fifty off Liffey Street.
She lectured part time in Visual Communications for 7years in Dublin Institute of Technology, Mountjoy Sq, Dublin. Adrienne also freelanced for the Irish Times, Business & Finance, Irish Independent etc. alongside her London clients. Adrienne has lectured extensively on her subject: NCAD Illustration Master Classes, Independent Colleges, Ballyfermot BCFE workshops, and the National Gallery of Ireland Summer Lecture series 2009. She currently runs two workshops: Illustration Boot Camp & Picture Book Creation in The Carmelite Centre, Aungier Street, Dublin 2.
Adrienne is consistently developing her courses, and ‘adores the buzz’ she gets from seeing her students work develop.
She is currently working in her home studio in Stoneybatter, Dublin making her box art assemblages, painting, illustrating and writing stories.
